Plastic Specifications   Life Ratings
Mounting Channels and Lens Covers are extruded polycarbonate with a flammability rating of UL 94-V0.

Ratings are based upon the manufacturer’s published life data. Life of xenon sources is determined by the industry standard Mean Time Before Failure (MTBF) method, defined as the time when 50% of lamps fail. With our LED source, life is defined as the time when lumen output depreciates to 70% of its initial value. Actual lifetime may vary based upon environmental conditions
Series AVO tube guards have a flammability rating of UL 94-V0 and conform to UL Standard 746C for exposure to ultraviolet light and water absorption.

Safety Certification
Advantage Lighting Systems are ETL Listed and bear the CE Mark for conformance to European Standards.

Installation Guidelines

Basic System

Each Advantage socket is provided with four mounting holes. For secure mounting, use two screws in opposing holes.

Seamless Light

Advantage fixtures are flexible enough to turn corners without the use of special hardware, eliminating any dark spots at corner locations.

AV-MC Mounting Channel

Attach the mounting channel securely in place with screws. Insert one side of socket under the lip of the mounting channel, then snap the socket in place.

The mounting channel is flexible in one direction and will conform to a 24” radius with lamps facing into or away from the bend.

Heat Consideration

Xenon lamps produce heat and will cause damage if they come in direct contact with persons or combustible materials. If fixtures are positioned where these conditions can occur, Advantage should always be specified with the appropriate lens cover to prevent harm.

In accordance with NEC/NFPA 70 Article 410-5, combustible materials next to the fixtures must not be subjected to temperatures in excess of 90º C (194º F). In order to conform to this standard, fixtures need to be installed according to the minimum space requirements shown below.

Dimming

Incandescent Lamps

Advantage xenon lamps may be operated from magnetic or electronic transformers. The transformers featured in our catalog are fully dimmable with the appropriate style of dimmer suitable for use with magnetic or electronic transformers.

LED Modules

Tokistar's LED modules are suitable for use with a wide range of industry-standard dimmers. There are some compatibility issues with certain models.

1. Advantage LED Modules are for use from 24 VAC magnetic transformers only. Therefore, the dimmer must be suitable for dimming this style of transformer.

2. Some dimmers have a minimum-load requirement. These style of dimmers not only require a minimum load, but also need to sense the load is present before they will function properly. Although there may be enough of our LED Modules to reach the minimum load requirement, the dimmers still may not function properly because they do not interpret an LED load as they do a standard incandescent load. Some dimming companies do offer a solution to this problem. They offer a "synthetic load" device which will cause the dimmer to operate properly with our Advantage LED Modules if the minimum load requirement is met.

For example: Lutron's Maestro dimmers are load sensitive and require a minimum load of 40 watts. Additionally, Lutron offers a synthetic load device to ensure the dimmer will function properly with our LEDs.

So the Maestro dimmer from Lutron is suitable for use with Advantage LED Modules if the load is 40 watts or more, and if the system includes their LUT-LBX synthetic load device.

3. Tokistar Lighting has evaluated a wide range of dimmers for use with our Advantage LED Modules. To date, every test performed yields the same results:

A. Dimmers which are not load-sensitive and capable of dimming magnetic transformers will dim our product properly.

B. Dimmers which are load sensitive, loaded to the appropriate level, and are used in conjunction with the appropriate synthetic load device from the dimmer manufacturer will dim our product properly.

Following these guidelines should ensure proper dimming of our lighting system, but we cannot test our product with every make and model number. To confirm there is no issue with compatibility:

1. Check with our staff and see if the dimmer in question is on our "safe-list" of dimmers we have tested by make and model.

2. If there is any question on compatibility, a simple test can be performed with a single Advantage LED Module to confirm it dims properly with the dimming system in
question. If a single module dims properly, multiple modules will dim properly.
