Incandescent Lamps
Advantage xenon lamps may be operated from magnetic or electronic transformers. The transformers featured in our catalog are fully dimmable with the appropriate style of dimmer suitable for use with magnetic or electronic transformers.
LED Modules
Tokistar's LED modules are suitable for use with a wide range of industry-standard dimmers. There are some compatibility issues with certain models.
1. Advantage LED Modules are for use from 24 VAC magnetic transformers only. Therefore, the dimmer must be suitable for dimming this style of transformer.
2. Some dimmers have a minimum-load requirement. These style of dimmers not only require a minimum load, but also need to sense the load is present before they will function properly. Although there may be enough of our LED Modules to reach the minimum load requirement, the dimmers still may not function properly because they do not interpret an LED load as they do a standard incandescent load. Some dimming companies do offer a solution to this problem. They offer a "synthetic load" device which will cause the dimmer to operate properly with our Advantage LED Modules if the minimum load requirement is met.
For example: Lutron's Maestro dimmers are load sensitive and require a minimum load of 40 watts. Additionally, Lutron offers a synthetic load device to ensure the dimmer will function properly with our LEDs.

So the Maestro dimmer from Lutron is suitable for use with Advantage LED Modules if the load is 40 watts or more, and if the system includes their LUT-LBX synthetic load device.
3. Tokistar Lighting has evaluated a wide range of dimmers for use with our Advantage LED Modules. To date, every test performed yields the same results:
A. Dimmers which are not load-sensitive and capable of dimming magnetic transformers will dim our product properly.
B. Dimmers which are load sensitive, loaded to the appropriate level, and are used in conjunction with the appropriate synthetic load device from the dimmer manufacturer will dim our product properly.
Following these guidelines should ensure proper dimming of our lighting system, but we cannot test our product with every make and model number. To confirm there is no issue with compatibility:
1. Check with our staff and see if the dimmer in question is on our "safe-list" of dimmers we have tested by make and model.
2. If there is any question on compatibility, a simple test can be performed with a single Advantage LED Module to confirm it dims properly with the dimming system in
question. If a single module dims properly, multiple modules will dim properly. |
